Hello, Happy New Year, I can say what other colleagues have said about the detachable bell ring is almost imperceptible in a Kruspe-type horn (Conn 8D, Holton, Miraphone, etc) and in a lighter horn like Alexander, for me the sound it is more stable preferably in extreme dynamics, in my opinion you just need to be careful when mounting and dismounting, it is comfortable to travel and move around the city.

Back in the late 70's or early 80's, one or the other of the Lawson brothers said in a seminar here in Dayton, they found no discernable difference in the sound of a horn with a cut bell and the same horn without a cut bell.

Not Lawson's comment, but my experience-- One can, however change the timbre of the horn by using a bell made of a materiel different from the horn's original bell.
