Missing bearing plate on french horn?

11 years 3 months ago - 11 years 3 months ago #677 by Bruno Pietoso

I'm new to this forum, and to the french horn world. I just got this Olds Ambassador Bflat French Horn and when I decided to open the valves to see the inside, I noticed that the first valve seems to be missing the bearing plate. The instrument plays just fine and the lever works ok. I also noticed there is a difference in the levers when they are all straight, is that a problem? they don't line up evenly.

I've attached the photo.

Many thanks! Any insight is more than welcome!
