Other Details: Handmade horn with a unique design from the workshop of Katsushi Sakaino.

Mr. Sakaino makes horns in Germany under two labels, Curia brass, and Ed. Kruspe and has a lineup that includes a number of classic Kruspe models as well as some original designs.

The model 24 uses a wrap that I have not seen anywhere else that has some great advantages, including an extra long leadpipe and airflow that passes through the valves in the same direction on both Bb and F sides. It’s a great player. Responds very easily, slots like nobody’s business and has an amazingly secure high range in particular. The sound of the instrument is compact and colorful.

The instrument is mostly unlacquered except for the bell flare. It is also fitted with 4 joy keys, which drastically reduce the amount of time one needs to spend dumping water. Focus on playing and don’t worry about the gurgles.
