DescriptionName: Michael B.
Alloy: Yellow Brass
Other Details: Fantastic Dieter Otto Model 201 "Weimar Berlin" with 2 Joy Keys and 4 leadpipe bits.
One of the most intersting (and in my opinion, best) designs to come out of the Otto horn workshop, this design, while wrapped like a Geyer, replicates the tapers of a pre-WW1 C.F. Schmidt. It's meant to give you the sound a playing qualities of the best specimens of Schmidt horns, but without the awkward ergonomics of the piston thumb valve.
And it does play exceptionally, with a very light and easy response and a sound that is both colorful and deep. Really the perfect balance of tone qualities, I think.
The horn also comes with a few "high-tech" features, including an interchangeable mouthpiece receiver system, which gives you different options for matching the taper of your mouthpiece shank with the receiver in the leadpipe. Also, the horn is fitted with 2 Joy Keys, which drastically reduce the amount of time you have to spend dumping water from the instrument.
This one is in perfect condition.
