Description

Name: Michael B.
City: Boston
State: MA
Country: USA
Alloy: Yellow Brass
Bell: Detachable
Lacquer: Yes
Case: No
Condition: Excellent
Other Details: Beautiful double french horn in a unique tri-valve configuration by Marc Schmiedhäuser.

Valve cluster configuration is somewhat reminiscent of Jungwirth’s design, but completely different in almost all other respects. Might best be seen as a rewrapped 103 design, as it uses the same single-plane change valve and has similar bell dimensions.

But this thing doesn’t play like any 103 I’ve ever played. It’s powerful as hell and the sound has tons of core. Centers a bit differently than some other instruments and as such takes some getting used to, but once you find where the notes want to play, boy what a sound!

I don’t know how many of these Herr Schmiedhäuser has made, but this is the first one I’ve ever seen in the wild. This horn is in great shape. Just professionally cleaned. Valves have lots of pop. Lacquer 99% intact. A handful of tiny dings. A couple of small acid spots under the lacquer on the bell. Ready for its new owner.
