For sale is my beautiful Kruspe full double: US$ 5,000, GBP 4,000, EUR 4,500. I have owned this instrument since 1980 and played it through college and in my professional life in orchestras in Asia. It has no serial number that I can find, so I have no way of dating it, but it certainly doesn’t play old! Although it is a versatile instrument, I believe it excels as a low orchestral or session instrument, with the larger bore and darker sound adding richness to a section.
Although it would suit a good student, it is completely a professional quality instrument, and the brand carries huge heritage.
I recently had it lacquered and it looks stunning. There are a few spots on the outside of the bell throat where the lacquer has worn off but otherwise it is in excellent shape with only tiny dents and scratches.
Potential buyers are welcome to try it at my home in Cambridge, England, and I can arrange to bring it to London or Birmingham for serious buyers.
