Description
The purpose of the CWU Horn Club is to promote the horn and horn literature in the Ellensburg community, the Central Washington region, and at Central Washington University. The Central Washington University Horn Ensemble is made up of university students, regardless of major, interested in playing the horn. A permanent ensemble in the CWU Music Department since 1992, the CWUHE performs 1-2 full concert programs per year, featuring works for small and large ensembles of horns. The ensemble has been featured at Northwest Horn Workshops in 1995, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2005, and 2007, the 2002 and 2008 Washington Music Educators Association conferences, the 28th Annual Workshop of the International Horn Society in 1996 in Eugene, Oregon, the 30th International Horn Summit in 1998 at the Banff Centre for the Arts, the 33rd International Horn Symposium in 2001 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and the 40th International Horn Symposium at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver in July 2008. The ensemble also maintains an active out-reach program, promoting the horn and its music in Washington's schools.
