Teaching Experience
I have taught private lessons for students aged 9 to 90 since 2005. While at LSU, I completed my Bachelors of Music Education and attained LA State Teachers Certification for K-12 instrumental and vocal music. During that time, I student taught middle school for a semester as well as taught high school horn sectionals for area band programs. My current students consistently attain high scores at both District and State Solo and Ensemble Festival. They also audition well, making Middle School and High School Area and State Honor Band and Orchestra and place into the WI Youth Symphony ensembles. They have competed in the WYSO Concerto Competition, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition, and have placed in the finals for the UW Music Clinic Tuition Remission Award. I have been horn faculty at the junior and senior sessions of the UW Summer Music Clinic since 2013. I also teach at the Lesson Academy at Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School (Sun Prairie, WI) and have taught master classes at many high schools around southern WI.

Teaching Specialties
My main goal as a teacher is to deepen my student's relationship with music and the horn through practice on the horn and by engaging the student's innate musicality. Because each student is an individual, I believe in a personalized approach to teaching based upon the student's aspirations and abilities. In any lesson, basic horn fundamentals, proper breathing, audition preparation, music theory and history, performance technique, composition, horn maintenance, and musical style and phrasing are and can be taught based upon the student’s needs. Students in my studio often arrange and compose their own music as well as perform in a yearly studio recital held in the spring. Through teaching proper fundamentals in an individualized, challenging, and positive teaching setting that fosters the student’s own creativity, students become successful, talented performers.
