This award, named for the longtime Editor of The Horn Call, Emeritus Dean, and IHS Honorary Member, Paul Mansur, provides opportunities for full-time music education students to receive five mentorship calls from a mutually agreed-upon mentor.
Award: Five mentorship calls with a mutually agreed-upon mentor and a one-year IHS membership.
Age Requirements: One award for full-time music education students 17-22 years on January 2 of the award year. One award for full-time music education students 23-30 years on January 2 of the award year.
Application Requirements: Applications must be submitted to the IHS Executive Director. A complete application must include:
- A completed Mansur Award Application Form (must be logged in to access).
- An essay from the applicant that describes their background and future goals in their
education and career. - An essay from the applicant on the subject of the outcome they would like to achieve
from working with a mentor. - Proof of full-time public or private school, conservatory, or university enrollment must
be provided at the time of application; students must be enrolled in the academic term immediately preceding the symposium.
Judging: Essays will be evaluated for both content and grammar, so time and care in preparation is encouraged.
