City: Lenexa
Serial Number: 431xxx
Bore: .468"
Alloy: Yellow Brass
Bell: Fixed
Lacquer: Fresh 100%
Case: Modern Conn Hard Case
Condition: Excellent
Other Details: This rare pre-letter Conn 28D dates to 1954. It has just had a full cosmetic and mechanical restoration to return it to near mint condition!

The restoration included a full valve rebuild, so the valve compression is excellent. Mechanically, everything functions as it would have brand new.

Cosmetically, it is almost perfect, with the only minor blemish being evidence of a repaired crease near the bell brace. You have to look hard to notice it.

This horn plays incredibly well over 4 octaves. The intonation is even and predictable, and the response is instant.

The tone is warm, noble, and a bit more focused than an 8D. It would be well suited for both orchestral as well as chamber/solo work.
