Hello and welcome the the International Horn Society's Online Music Sales!
The IHS Online Music Sales (OMS) is a new venture for the IHS and one that we're very excited about. The OMS will replace the long-running Manuscript Press which published winning compositions of the IHS Composition Contest. The OMS, however, will be much more than this. We plan to expand the offerings to include a greater variety of horn music that will appeal to a wider variety of players—from young students to seasoned professionals.
We are doing away with the old business model of shipping printed music through the mail. Rather, we will be delivering our publications as downloadable PDF documents. This has several key advantages:
- Instant delivery. No more waiting by your mailbox for your new music to arrive. You can purchase, download, print, and start practicing immediately.
- Lower prices. We're eliminating the cost of printing the music and we're passing that savings on to you. There are also no more shipping and handling fees.
- Portability. Take your OMS music collection with you anywhere on your laptop or iPad. Study a score on an airplane or practice in a hotel room without having to pack bulky sheet music.
One goal of the OMS is to for the horn community to become involved in its growth. This means we want you not only to purchase the music we have for sale, but also contribute your own works to our collection. Perhaps you're a young composer looking for a publisher, or an established composer who is looking for new options. Maybe you're a teacher who has written warmup or etude materials for your students, or maybe you've assigned your students to compose their own music with surprisingly good results. Perhaps you've written some duets to play with your friends and colleagues. If you have any original compositions that you would like to share with the horn community you can submit them to us for publication. The best part is that we've setup a generous royalty policy so that you will make money on every copy of your music that is sold! See our FAQ page for more information on the submission process.
Please take some time to peruse our library. We've included sample scores of every composition and audio samples of many. We hope this will take some of the risk out of purchasing music new music that you're not familiar with.

What is the OMS?
IHS Online Music Sales is a new horn-oriented sheet music store hosted by the International Horn Society.
How is OMS different than the IHS Manuscript Press?
IHS Online Music Sales replaces the IHS Manuscript Press. Sheet music previously sold by the Manuscript Press will continue to be sold by OMS, but OMS will expand its offerings to include a greater variety of horn-oriented music that will appeal to a wide range of players and abilities.
What are the benefits of OMS?
The IHS would like the horn community to be more involved in Online Music Sales than it was with the Manuscript Press. We think that putting the store online will make the shopping experience faster, easier and more engaging. We provide score samples and audio samples for you to peruse before you make a purchase. We also eliminate the printing and shipping costs and pass those savings onto you, and you don't have to wait for your music to arrive in the mail.
What do I get when I purchase music from Online Music Sales?
After your purchase is complete you will be provided with a link to download a high quality PDF of the sheet music. You can then print the PDF on your home printer or take it to a print shop (e.g. Kinkos) to have it professionally printed and bound.
What size paper do I need to print the music?
The paper size of each composition is specified in the description. Most of the music we sell can be printed full size on standard letter (8.5x11) or A4 size paper. However there are several works that are designed to be printed on larger paper. They can be printed at a reduced size on standard size paper but we recommend that you take them to a print shop (e.g. Kinkos/FedEx Office) to have them printed full size.
What kind of music is sold by Online Music Sales?
OMS sells horn-oriented music. There are a wide variety of genres, from unaccompanied solos, sonatas with piano, trio, works for horn voice, and small ensemble pieces that feature the horn. We hope to expand the library so that there is music that will appeal to all levels of horn player.
Whose music is published by Online Music Sales?
OMS will continue to publish all compositions previously published by the IHS Manuscript Press. These works were all winners of the IHS Composition Contest. In addition the OMS will publish other submitted horn-oriented works. Submissions must be approved for publication by a review panel. Winners of the IHS Composition Contest are automatically eligible for publication.
Who can submit works for publication?
Anyone! If you've composed any horn music—solos, duets, etudes, quartets, anything—that you feel is other horn players would benefit from, please submit it. We're looking for music of all levels, from beginner solos, to advanced etudes.
If my composition is approved for publication will I receive royalties on sales?
Absolutely. You will receive 25% of the full retail price of each sale. Composers will have input in determining the retail price of their compositions. Royalties will be paid annually.
