Atlantic Music Festival Announces Call For Entries

The festival provides tuition, housing, and meals for the duration of the festival. The Artist Residency Program is open to orchestral instrumentalists, pianists, one composer, one conductor, one recording engineer, and one orchestra librarian between the ages of 18 and 32. Accepted applicants will be featured as resident artists in The 2009 Atlantic Music Festival.
Deadline to submit for the U.S. and International applicants for the 2009 Atlantic Music Festival is January 31, 2009.
The submission form and complete information regarding eligibility and entry rules for the 2009 Atlantic Music Festival are available on the Atlantic Music Festival website. Resident applicants are also encouraged to participate in the 2009 AMF International Competition (which occurs during the festival) The Grand Prize laureate will appear as soloist with the AMF Orchestra and featured in solo recital at Dumbo Space, a new world class theater and recording facility opening in Spring 2010. In addition, the winner will have an opportunity to record an full-length album within Dumbo Space's fully equipped recording space.

You can help the IHS by becoming an IHS Area Representative.
The IHS invites applications for open Area Representative positions. Area Representatives serve the IHS by communicating society activities to IHS members in their state, province, or country, as well as sharing information about horn activities in their areas with the society worldwide. Area Reps also assist in recruiting and welcoming new IHS members and in communication between members in their area. We are especially interested in hearing from people in regions or countries where we have not had Reps before.

10/19/08: Registration is now open for the 2009 International Horn Symposium. The form and cost information are available at www.wiu.edu/horn under the IHS2009 sidebar. This information could be quite useful for teachers who are applying for funding to take ensembles (or themselves) to IHS 2009. One item we have available with Early Registration is the capability of purchasing Sodexo MEAL CARDS for the Food Court at the University Union. Some students might not want to go back to the residence halls for lunch--and prefer to eat lunch at the food court--go visit a nearby exhibit or practice --before going to an event at 1:00. So meals plans can be purchased for either breakfast, lunch, and or dinner. Also, the BANQUET Registrations must be made early. There will be a limit for the first 600 Registrants for the Symposium Banquet.
